The Windows server 2012 R2 Standard edition is the solution for customers who want a more physical environment. This Standard edition allows up to two virtual instances of Windows Server per license. The licensing model is the same as Datacenter, processor plus CAL, with each license covering a maximum of two processors on a single server.
